Mount Abu revisited

On my recent trip to Mount Abu with my wife and good buddy Sachin, we decided to shoot some street stuff, random people and our little puppies. It was a great couple of days ’cause Sachin (master wedding photographer) shot our post wedding album for us. Those will be in my next post…

Adi n Nidhi’s wedding

A little late, but here’s a quick look at Adi n Nidhi’s 6 day wedding. I shot only the first 4 days.

1. Cocktail party – 8pm onwards

I set up a 3 strobes at the entrance, 1 main with a softbox. 2 others as rim light hidden in the bushes. Triggered them via skyport and triggered the camera using a cheap chinese wireless trigger. Pre-focused and ready to go.

2. Engagement – ring ceremony

All shot with available light, switched lenses between the 100mm and 70-200 mm.

3. Mehndi

Once again all natural light, 70-200 and 24-105.

4. Sangeet

I had exclusive rights to shoot the bride in her room before the function, so was extremely happy about that. Got some good shots too.

I didn’t cover the rest of the functions as I wanted to be part of the wedding too and there were professionals who were hired to do the job.

God bless Adi n Nidhi, wish you the very best in life…

He is growing up really fast and is very very naughty. Do not be fooled by his cute little face, those teeth are really SHARP and he likes to bite everything that moves :)

Road trip – Mount abu

A week since I came back to India, we head off to Mount Abu for the weekend to meet my dad. Our passengers included Uncle, Aunty, Annu, Mingo and me.

Uncle, Aunty & Annu

It’s rainy season here and the 4.5 hour drive was just beautiful, lush rich green fauna. It’s been ages since it’s rained so much Gujarat and Rajasthan. On the drive up the hills towards Mount Abu, it started raining heavily and people going there stopped on the way wherever mini waterfalls had formed.

Lucy

At the hotel (new website live now), met with dad and new members of the family – Lucy and 1 month old ‘Chirkut’ (meaning little tiny one).

They say he is a German shepherd, so I guess he is not going to be tiny for long ;)

Chirkut

Took several pictures of these cuties over the next 2 days.

Later that day, we set off to Achalgarh – famous for its 15th century fort, Jain temples and 9th century temple that was built around the ‘toe print’ of Lord Shiva. Other attractions here are a 4 ton Nandi (statue of Shiva’s bull), a beautiful lake with several statues, a pit that is said to reach to the netherworld, a natural Shivalinga and several stories behind each of these.

Next morning we went for dad’s usual walk in the hills, what a beautiful morning. The rainy season makes the forest come alive and everywhere you look is a beautiful picture to shoot at and admire.

I did my schooling in mount abu, so i know the area really well and have fond memories of the place. If you ever have the chance to visit abu, make sure you go around with someone who will take you to places, like – tiger’s path, plumy, flaggy, golden horn, diving board, the list goes on and on ;)

Coming soon – more pictures from my next visit…

take care

The boys

Another weekend with beautiful weather, so it was once again time for another road trip. This time to Harry’s place up north in Grimsby and surrounding region.

The sky

Our initial plan was to go to Scotland, butspending only 1 day in Scotland would not be sufficient, therefore we settled for Peak district. It was so worth it!!!

Day 1

We [Harry driving, Karan and Asad playing scrabble, and me navigating and dj-ing as usual] set of Friday evening, nice long drive to Grimsby, the weather was lovely and the sky was breathtaking.

All set, locked and loaded in the Merc C 250 D, we leave at 7:30. Listening to the latest tunes from the last 6 months. Dolly, Asad n Karan playing scrabble on the iPad, while Harry’s driving and I am navigating and Dj’ ing.

Hyde Park group shoot

Tried something different this time, a group shoot with models outdoors. After discussing with Sachin, we finally thought of shooting in a park, and what better park in London than Hyde park.

I will not say it was easy, and that we had no problems at all. In fact it was tough, very tough. Our makeup artist decided not to turn up, and one model also canceled but came later during the day. Setting up was easy and we didn’t have any problem with shooting in Hyde park. The problem was the wind, and pollen in the air. Everybody had tears in their eyes but still managed to work great together.

The highlight of the day was the ‘Tree shoot’ and ‘Flare shots’ with the sun flaring into the images. Everybody had a lot of fun and some of us could not stop laughing ;)
